Chicken Farm

The chickens have arrived...and the Little Lady is in animal heaven :) I finally gave in after a year of my husband begging for them. I think his dream is to own a small animal farm...he already has tried to bring home a duck, rabbit, and a goat. I think I partially gave in because one...I was tired of him begging and two...I knew the Little Lady would just adore them :) It has been neat to watch her interact with them as well. Such a cool experience for her and her cousin, they both are so interested in the chickens.

We have four chickens, two grey ones and two brown ones. They are still babies but old enough to be outside in a coop. Audrey loves to feed them and watch them eat. When she is older this will be part of chores to help feed them and make sure their coop is clean. Our dogs have adjusted pretty well to the new family members. The dogs did try to chase them at first, but now they just watch them. So we officially have a very, very small chicken farm of our very own...now we will truly have organic, homegrown eggs...haha!!

  1. I wish we could have chickens! We are planning on buying a house with land in a few years so we too can start bringing home some small animals!

I think it's great for the little one and it's wonderful that she has warmed right up to them.

  2. Seriously, stop with the cute dresses. You're going to make me break my "no new clothes" resolution I've been keeping since January!

Our town just voted -- AGAIN -- to ban chickens within city limits. So frustrating, because I would really like to get our eggs locally for a variety of reasons. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures with them!

Boo to that vote. We live in a pretty large city...I didn't even know they ban them in other cities :(
